“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
(Luke 2:14 KJV)

May hiyang na na jokes ang mga Pilipino na kapag “-ber” month na (September), it’s time to play Christmas carols because September 1 is the official start of the Christmas season. This practice will run for the most part until December 25 pero itataas ang level ng Christmas carols on the evening of December 16 when kids from around the neighborhood would sing carols on houses in exchange for goods and/or money.
Christmas carols add to the sounds of Christmas. Mayroon siyang ability to give a Filipino pleasure to say, “Ilang araw na lang Pasko na.” In olden days, bands playing Christmas carols would go around barrios at dawn to announce to people the simbang gabi. In modern times, the sounds of Christmas is highlighted by carols by neighborhood kids. Carols are songs of festivity and of celebrating the joys of Christmas.
Kaso baka what we celebrate is the feeling of joy, not the Object of our Joy who is the Lord Jesus Christ.
The angel who announced to the shepherds near Bethlehem the arrival of the Messiah had a company of angels with him who after the announcement broke into praising and glorifying the Son of Man.
The reaction of the host of angels to the birth of Christ must remind us of the royal exaltation of these heavenly beings. God communicates to us here the elevated status of Christ. The birth of Christ was a divine activity that brought the angels extreme worship and joy. From the praise we can see that all heaven and all earth must celebrate Jesus Christ.
May this Christmas remind you not only of the exalted na posisyon ni Kristo sa langit at sa lupa, but also of the exalted action of God to bring peace to a lost world because of sin.
