Kaliwanagan Kay Kristo (Aug 10): Napagod at Nakatulog Si Kristo Kasi Hindi Siya Diyos || John Pesebre

Listen to 702 DZAS Kaliwanagan Kay Kristo (a segment of Tanglaw sa Landas ng Buhay of Back to the Bible Philippiness) every Tuesday and Thursday 7:00PM.

Ang argument na tutugunan natin ngayon ay "Jesus is not God because God doesn't get tired but Jesus got tired and fell asleep."

Feature ng humanity natin ang makatulog. A good part of our life we spend on sleeping.

Upang natugunan ito ng isang Evangelical believer, kailangan nating maunawaan na tao na man talaga si  Kristo subalit He was not merely a man, but uniquely a man dahil He also is the Son of God. We call this nature in the person of Christ as hypostatic union.
Ang Christian formulation ng hypostatic union can be found in the Chalcedonian Creed na nagtuturo sa atin na

I have discussed briefly in the previous blog the divinity of Christ, most especially via a quote from Wayne Grudem's Systematic Theology that states,

  • The New Testament, in hundreds of explicit verses that call Jesus “God” and “Lord” and use a number of other titles of deity to refer to him, and in many passages that attribute actions or words to him that could only be true of God himself, affirms again and again the full, absolute deity of Jesus Christ. “In him all the fulness of God was pleased to dwell” (Col. 1:19), and “in him the whole fulness of deity dwells bodily” (Col. 2:9).*

Ang pagkaunawa po natin sa mechanism na yan sa hypostatic union ay may mga certain judgments ang Panginoon to curtail or paikliin ang kanyang kakayahan bilang Diyos to pursue a redemptive plan for the saving of His people. His will is curtailed because it is submitted to the will of the Father. Sa kanyang kakayahan, kaya niyang durugin ang batang ito sa kanyang kamay subalit he constrained himself to do that. In a very simplistic way, that is how I think I would illustrate 'yung mechanism ng hypostatic union that teaches the divine nature of the Son of God and the human nature of His incarnation consisting in that one Person of Jesus.

Diyan pa natin mauunawaan ang pagmamahal ng ni Kristo dahil sa Kaniyang willingness to curtail His power, dwell in an earthly body and simply be dependent upon the power of the Will of the Father concerning His life, strength and many more.

This idea also helps us understand more clearly yung Philippians 2:6-8 that says,

  • “who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,  but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.  And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”

Ang problema ngayon ng mga INC concerning dito sa critique nila na ito sa mga orthodox na Christians na tulad natin is that it is trying to mischaracterize our belief. Mas madali nga naman mag mischaracterize kesa harapin ang katotohanan kasi kung mischaracterization ang gagawin mo, no one will defend that characterization at magmumukha ka pang superior.
